Practicum
The Stony Glen Campus offers English as a Second Language training and certification with immersion into local immigrant Hispanic ministry. Our students participate in placement testing for Hispanic students and teach a monthly ESL class in the community.
We also offer training and certification in Spiritual Caregiving in Medical Settings with a hospital chaplaincy practicum experience in a local hospital in the Amish community. Our students participate in hospital room visitation, minister to hospital staff, and conduct a worship service in the behavioral unit of the hospital each month.
On a weekly basis, practicum is held at a local chapter of the Salvation Army where students minister to the homeless in our community, and mentor at-risk children in a multi-cultural setting. There are other opportunities each week to reach out to people in local coffee shops as a part of their practicum experience. The work practicum on campus gives students the opportunity to physically serve in the maintenance of our campus facilities and property.
